The pressure of academic performance can be intense and overwhelming at times--whether you're in high school, college or graduate school. It feels like there is always something more you can/should be doing and those feelings can lead to burnout and imbalance in your life. Academic cultures can create a competitive environment in which the most "stressed out" and over-committed person is at the top.
Working with someone who understands the very real pressures that accompany a successful academic career can be helpful--you can benefit from developing good self-care habits, and develop a new way of thinking about stress. You can also share your unique experience and strengths in order to develop new ways of coping with academic pressures and stress.
